Stanwood R. Duval Obtains $672,500 Settlement for Victim of Maritime Injury
July 2017
Attorney Stanwood R. Duval obtained a personal injury settlement of $672,500 for a client who was a diver on the Mississippi River. Various defendants argued that the diver was not a Jones Act seaman; however, Mr. Duval was able to obtain the settlement in the amount of $672,500 from both the maritime employer’s insurance policy and the longshore insurance policy. Mr. Duval was also successful in having his client’s maintenance and cure payments reinstated, which resulted in the client receiving an additional $193,000 in the form of maintenance and cure.
