Houma native Rachel South Boquet provides legal services to individuals, families and small businesses in the areas of estate planning, successions, special needs trusts, and continuing tutorships. Rachel has earned the distinction of Board Certified Estate Planning and Administration Specialist from the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization after completing additional specialized continuing legal education and a rigorous written examination. Rachel also supports the firm in its general civil practice.
While a student at the Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, Rachel served as Managing Editor of the Loyola Law Review and was recognized with the Warren E. Mouledoux Editor-in-Chief’s Award for outstanding service and dedication. Rachel was a Judicial Extern for Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Jeannette Theriot Knoll and Clerk for the Honorable John R. Walker of the 32nd Judicial District Court before entering private practice specializing in estate planning and successions.
She joined the firm of Duval, Funderburk, Sundbery, Richard and Watkins in 2017 and became partner in 2019. She and her husband and their three daughters reside in Houma where Rachel is a life member of the Junior Auxiliary, a committee member for Bayou Community Foundation, and has volunteered and served in various leadership positions for St. Matthew’s Episcopal School and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Professionally, Rachel is a member of the New Orleans Estate Planning Council and the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys.
